|Afghanistan (Day 7)|

Saturday, May 24th......Kandahar, Afghanistan
We'll if you've received Lori's email with a link to "Di's story" you already heard about how our show went last night, if not, go to www.ctv.ca and look under "top stories". It started off great and then about 1 hour into the show, during my performance when I was in the middle of a song called "Soldiers Wife" we had another rocket attack. The sirens sounded and at first I actually thought the guitar player was doing something funky on his guitar....we were quickly scuttled off the stage and to the nearest bunker. We had to wait about 45 mins for the "all clear" siren and then we proceeded back to the stage where we finished our show. Damn Taliban! After the show we had a meet and greet with all the soldiers, signed autographs, took pictures and hit the hay around 1:00am.
This morning we went to the local market. Actually, they set it up here on base every Saturday. The local Afghani's bring their wares and after being put through an extensive screening process, bomb sniffing dogs and retina scans they are allowed to set up and sell their good to the soldiers. Very interesting stuff.
We're looking forward to our last show here, hopefully uninterrupted by another rocket attack or siren. Tomorrow we head off to Kabul where we'll perform our last show in Afghanistan.
I'll send you an email from there!
